Fitness Appointments

  • Schedule an appointment at the SRC front desk or call 346-1364.
  • You must schedule 48 hours in advance and cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance.
  • Appointment length will be shortened if you're late for the scheduled time.
  • Payment is required when an appointment is scheduled (Orientations are free).

If you are interested in training for the 5k Fun Run, it is recommended that you are currently able to run/jog for 15-20 minutes. If you are interested in following a training plan to prepare for the 5 k run and other running events, download a

6-week training plan from Nike Running, or visit the following recommended sites: runnersworld.com; halhigdon.com; and jeffgalloway.com.

Remember the Faculty/Staff Walk is a great alternative and you can start training for another 5k event!

Early Morning Fitness Training

What Is Circuit Training?
Circuit training includes a series of stations that alternate strength and cardiovascular exercises.

When?
Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-7:30am in the South Weight Room.

Where?
In the South Weight Room.

What Does It Cost?
Participation is FREE to all SRC members, who are encouraged to drop in during the hour for any duration of time (i.e. 20, 30, 45 minutes).

Fitness Orientation

  • Is recommended for new members/new exercisers
  • Includes an introduction to the fitness areas, weight rooms and fitness equipment at the SRC
  • Is conducted in groups of 1-2 people
  • Takes about 30 minues
  • is free

Clients must wear athletic apparel and shoes.

A fitness orientation is not equivalent to a personal training session. Those desiring an individualized training plan are encouraged to sign up for a personal training appointment.

Fitness Assessment

Schedule a one-on-one appointment with a personal trainer for a series of fitness tests designed to evaluate your current fitness level, establish a baseline for training, or evaluate the progress of a workout plan.

Approximate time: 60 minutes

I. Progressive Personal Training
(120 minutes, $50)

II. Developed Personal Training
(90 minutes, $40)

Train with a workout buddy (2 individuals with one Personal Trainer. If you and a friend have similar fitness levels and goals, you can have a program designed together:
1 - 60 minute session - $45 (for 2 people).

SELF-ASSESSMENT QUESTIONNAIRE

In order to participate in a Fitness Assessment or Personal Training session, you must first answer the seven questions of the self-assessment questionnaire. If you reply ‘YES’ to any question, you must have our Physician's Release signed by your personal physician.

1 Has your doctor ever said you have a heart condition and that you should only do activity recommended by a doctor?

2 Do you feel pain in your chest when you do physical activity?

3 In the past month, have you had chest pain when you were not doing physical activity?

4 Do you lose your balance because of dizziness, or do you ever lose consciousness?

5 Do you have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by a change in your physical activity?

6 Is your doctor currently prescribing drugs (for example, water pills) for blood pressure or heart condition?

7 Do you know of any other reason why you should not do physical activity?

How to Sign-up
Schedule an appointment in person by visiting the Student Recreation Center main desk during regular operating hours. The fee must be paid in full at the time the appointment is made. 24-hour notice of cancellation required.

What to Wear
The Weight Room dress code requires shirts, athletic pants or shorts, and athletic shoes. Shorts and a t-shirt are recommended for body composition testing.
