FACILITY ORIENTATION

A facility orientation is recommentded for new members/students. A facility orientation:

  • includes an introduction to the PE & REC department and SRC including policies, programs and services, shared through a facility tour and informational session.
  • can be scheduled at the SRC front desk or by calling 346-4183.
  • is conducted in groups of 1-3 people
  • takes about 30 minutes; and
  • is free

SPONSORED GUEST PASSES

  1. A sponsored guest pass may be purchased which permits entry to the Student Recreation Center.
  2. Guests must be accompanied by an individual with a valid U of O identification card upon purchase of the sponsored guest pass.
  3. A pass allows for unlimited reentry for the day(s) for which the pass is issued. Individuals should check availability of activity areas prior to purchasing a pass.
  4. Once a sponsored guest pass is purchased, the fee is not refundable.
  5. Individuals purchasing a sponsored guest pass must abide by all Student Recreation Center policies/procedures. Violators will be asked to leave the facility.
  6. Guest sponsor must be 18 years of age to be eligible to purchase a sponsored guest pass.

There are three types of passes available:

  • Sponsored Guest Pass 1 day - Anyone affiliated with or accompanied by a person with a valid U of O Id card.
  • Sponsored Guest Pass 3 day - Anyone affiliated with or accompanied by a person with a valid U of O Id card.
  • Sponsored Child Guest Pass 1 day – Individuals with a valid U of O Id card may purchase a child day pass during family hours. To qualify for the child day pass the guest must be at least 1 year old to 16 years old. All sponsored children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. 

    SRC Access Card

    SRC Access Cards are an extension to the day pass option. Passes are available in 5- visits for $20, 10- visits for $35 and 20- visits for $50.

    • The Access Card must be sponsored by a current student, faculty or staff member.
    • An application including the sponsor and guests information must be completed at the time of purchase.
    • The sponsor must be present to purchase the pass.
    • The Access Card will be punched at each entry. The guest must present the pass and identification.
    • If card is lost or stolen it can not be replaced.
    LOST AND FOUND

    All lost and found items can be taken and reported to the Front Desk in the SRC or the Gerlinger Hall cage. Unclaimed items will be discarded on a weekly basis.

    EQUIPMENT ISSUE

    Equipment Check-out Procedures

    A variety of sports equipment is available for check-out from the equipment issue area. Equipment is available for day use only. Equipment is checked-out in the following manner:

    • present your UO ID card/Rec Pass to Rec staff at the equipment check-out area
    • staff swipes the card to verify that it's your ID
    • request the item(s) of equipment you want
    • staff issues you equipment and logs equipment into use on your account.

    Restrictions: Guests may only check out a towel and locker with their day pass. Their sponsor may check out multiple pieces of equipment to accommodate the guest.

    Equipment Return Procedures

    Equipment is checked-out in the following manner. Before the facility closes:

    • present your UO ID card/Rec Pass to Rec staff at the equipment check-out area
    • staff swipes the card to verify that it's your ID
    • return the item(s) of equipment
    • staff removes items from your account.

    Outstanding Equipment: Overnight fees are assessed for equipment not returned by closing time.

    Damaged Equipment

    Damaged equipment is the responsibility of the patron* that checked out the equipment. Replacement fees are assessed to the patron if misuse is determined.

    Note: Sponsors of day pass holders are responsible for their guests.

    Outstanding Equipment

    Equipment is expected to be returned on the same day that it is checked out. Overnight fees are assessed for equipment not returned by closing, as follows:

    Fee Assessment Process

    • A $5 per day/per item late fee is assessed for outstanding equipment.
    • If an item is not returned within 5 days, the items full replacement value will be charged to the individuals UO account.

    Attempts will be made to inform individuals that they have outstanding equipment, by sending an E-mail message to their official UO address.

    LOCKER RENTAL AND TOWEL SERVICE

    Day Lockers

    For individuals who have not purchased locker service, there are three areas designated for day locker use:

    • The room near the vending machines, next to racquetball court 5
    • Women's locker room 1-20 & 97-111
    • Men's locker room 1-13 & 232-243

    Individuals may check out a lock or use their own lock in these areas but the lock must be removed by closing each night. Locks will be cut and items placed in lost and found if locks are not removed. Personal items left in lockers overnight will be confiscated and held by the SRC, as a courtesy, for one week. PE & REC staff is not responsible for any items left in lockers.

    Towel Service

    Towels are considered a piece of equipment. They can be checked out and are expected to be returned the same day.

    Exception: Individuals with locker service have an option to use towel service. This allows individuals to exchange a dirty towel for a clean one without swiping their ID card each time. Denial of towel service can be requested at anytime at the SRC front desk.

    Locker Rentals

    All general lockers are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sales begin on the first day of each new term. A locker can be rented at the following rates. The fee includes a lock and towel service. Do you want to renew your locker? Go to our online locker renewal form.

    *GER lockers are only available when academic terms are in session. They are not accessible during breaks.

    PE & REC is not responsible for lost items or items stored in lockers. Lock your locker at all times by turning the combination dial after closing the lock.

    Law Students follow this same schedule for locker service. However, limited lockers are available to law students during the beginning of each fall semester of Law School.

    Renewal/ Clearance Process

    Locker renters are responsible for either clearing or renewing their locker during the appropriate dates that correspond with the term(s) of service purchased. Lockers can be renewed by completing the online renewal form.

    Clearing out locker rental service includes:

    • RETURNING the lock to the FRONT DESK
    • Physically removing all of your personal items from the locker
    • Cleaning out any dust or dirt
    • Returning a towel to Equipment issue for Towel Service users

    A clearance fee will be assessed for failure to renew or clear locker during scheduled dates.

    Spring- Thursday, June 5, 2008

    Summer- Thursday, August 14, 2008

    Personal items that are cleared from a locker by the SRC staff will be held for one week only. These items can be claimed at the SRC front desk. It is recommended that users not bring valuables into the Student Recreation Center or Gerlinger. Any valuables brought in should be locked in lockers. PE & REC staff is not responsible for any lost, stolen or damaged personal items.

    COURT RESERVATIONS

    Reservations are taken at the SRC control desk in person or by phone, Court Reservation - 346-1211. Advanced reservations can only be made by current UO students, faculty and staff, and individuals who have a current Recreation Pass.

    Reservations may be made up to one day in advance. Same day reservations are accepted as long as they are made for an open court, at least an hour in advance.

    Sponsored guest pass holders may not make advanced reservations.

    Reservation Protocols

    • Reservations begin on the top of the hour

    • An individual may ONLY reserve one court at a time for one hour.

    • Reservations must be claimed by 5 minutes past the hour or the next person waiting may claim the court.

    • Reservations will be crossed out after being claimed.

    PE classes and Rec Programs events have priority over open recreation.
