Using Your Identification Cards/ Recreation Pass

Student ID cards are validated for students each semester, who have 1 fee bearing credit or more for the current term. There will be a one day delay in the activation, from point of purchase, of identification cards for the students who purchase the $40 off term pass.

U of O students are not eligible for an off term pass for two consecutive terms. There is a $15 replacement fee for a lost card.

 Recreation Pass

A recreation pass is obtained at the UO Id card office (located in the EMU). Partners, community members and alumni will be assigned an ID card and an ID number. Student partners must show a current ASUO spousal/ domestic partner card. The cost for the card is $10; replacement cost for a lost card is $15. A UO recreation pass only allows access to the PE & REC facilities.

 Identification Requirement and Usage

A U of O ID card, Recreation Pass or id number must be used to gain admittance to the facility on each visit. Patrons may use the turnstile or seek assistance from the entry monitor. Upon swiping the card through the turnstile, eligibility will be verified through the computerized system. If the card is not validated by the turnstile, indicated by a red light, the card holder must see the control desk attendant for assistance. If the membership can not be validated by the computer system the card holder will not be admitted.

ID Card Abuse

Id cards can not be transferred or loaned to any other person. Misuse of identification cards to gain access to the facility is considered a serious offense, considered by the University to be “Theft of Service”. Misused Id cars will be confiscated and may be picked up at the UO Card Office in the basement of the EMU. Access privileges to the Student Recreation Center will be suspended for one week form the day of the infraction. Participation in programs located in the Student Recreation Center such as, intramural sports, club sports, Rec Sports workout program, etc. is prohibited from participating during the time of the suspension.  Participants registered for a Physical Education Class must contact Glenn Cashel to make arrangements to attend class. There is a one-year probationary period from the day of the infraction. If a second offense occurs during the probationary period access will be denied until further notification and all information will be forwarded to Student Conduct (student members).

The PE & REC staff reserves the right to refuse admittance to or request the removal of any individual. Patrons may be requested to show identification upon request in all activity areas.

Forgotten Student ID

If an ID is forgotten, a control desk representative will conduct a computer check to verify current membership status. If membership can not be validated patron may be refused access. To insure a timely entrance all patrons should bring an ID card to enter the facility.

Facility Usage Priorities

Usage priorities vary by facility space, season and time. Generally, informal recreation has highest priority and all full benefit members have equal rights to use unreserved facilities. Activity areas may not be available for informal recreation when reserved for classes and other authorized groups. The PE & REC staff will manage the facility and programs with intent to best serve all participants.

Entry and exit are restricted to one location in the Student Recreation Center; this entry point is located on 15th street across from the Erb Memorial Union. Monitors at this entrance will verify eligibility of those seeking entry. All other doors are alarmed and are to be used only as emergency exits.
